The application menu groups Qualia’s commands — file operations, editing, view toggles, notebook run actions, and more — in one place, alongside their keyboard shortcuts.

Where to find it

  • macOS: commands appear in the system menu bar at the top of the screen.
  • Windows: the application menu occupies a row at the top of the window.
  • In the browser (including Qualia Cloud): the same command menus appear in a row at the top of the app.
Desktop builds also include operating-system actions such as window controls, zoom, and developer tools where applicable.

What’s inside

Menu items are dimmed when they don’t apply to what you’re doing — for example, Run All Cells is only available while a notebook is open. While a dialog is open, workspace commands and shortcuts are blocked unless they also support use inside dialogs. Most commands are also available from the keyboard shortcuts dialog: press Cmd/Ctrl+P to browse and run them by name. When you open a different local folder, wait for it to finish connecting. Workspace data refreshes once the new connection is ready. If startup fails, use the recovery actions on the startup screen. When connecting to a local or remote backend, Settings stays open but cannot be edited until the connection is ready.

Checking for updates

Help → Check for Updates… looks for a new version right away. On macOS the item is in the Qualia menu, next to About Qualia. It works whether or not automatic checks are turned on in General settings, and tells you when you are already up to date.

Sending feedback

Help → Send Feedback… or the titlebar gear menu’s Send feedback opens a small card in the bottom-right corner that stays open while you work. Write what’s on your mind, an idea, a problem, or anything else, and choose whether to share the current workspace. Sharing asks you to confirm first, since the team receives a copy of the workspace. The attachment uses the .qualia export: chats, tasks, knowledge, notebooks, and available images. Local copies also include workspace files, including .env files, using the normal export exclusions for caches and credential directories. Cloud copies currently omit other workspace files and live kernel state. Sharing a workspace needs a signed-in Qualia account. The form is available on desktop and in Qualia Cloud.
