Settings Overview

Settings let you customize Qualia to match your workflow. Open Settings by clicking the gear icon in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar.

Settings organization

Settings are organized into tabs on the left side:

General	Python/R/Julia environments, terminal shell, response language
Color Themes	Light/dark mode, editor and UI themes
API Keys	Quadrillion and provider API keys
Editor	Code completion, line numbers, search settings
AI Assistant	Models, research style, rules, skills, confirmations
AI Appearance	Chat position, message display, debug options
Matplotlib	Plot styling, colors, and export settings
Cell Tags	Custom tags for organizing notebook cells
Slack	Autonomous mode updates via Slack
MCP Integrations	External tool connections
Data	Database management and reset options
Licenses	Third-party acknowledgements and license notices

Use the search box at the top of Settings to find specific options. Search matches setting names, descriptions, and keywords.

Most settings save automatically as you change them. Some (like API keys) require clicking a save button.

Settings are global — they apply to all workspaces. For project-specific behavior, use:

Settings have sensible defaults out of the box. You can reset individual settings or use the Data Management tab to reset everything.
